Circle C Hobby.com | Circle C Hobby Sucks

August 8th, 2009 by Jordan Zazzara

Circle C Hobby

Circle C Hobby seemed like a nice store. Figured i’d order the traxxas car I wanted, since his  (the guy who was there at the time, I assumed the owner) price was pretty low. I didn’t even get an electronic notice of payment after i’d ordered, or any correspondence after a phone call, and an email (after 48 hours). So, I filed a dispute with paypal. The guy from Circle C hobby calls me a few hours later, and ends up insulting me and citing the “immigrant problem” in this country. He asks if I speak american (I know, the ignorance is cute) then corrected himself. Somehow he figures i’m a mexican, and tries to insult me on that basis (I’m not, not that any reasonable person would see that as an insult) and just generally fucks with me. I’m still trying to get my money back via paypal dispute, which circle C guy actually said he’d try to drag out for as long as he could.

Long story short, don’t buy from Circle C Hobby. He’s a racist, and might not even respond to you, unless it’s to call you and make racist jokes in his lovely alabama accent.

Circle C Hobby is run by a racist who’s verbally insulted me/gamed the paypal system to take as long as possible for me to get a refund for the product he refuses to ship.

Organic Search and Social Media

Social Media & Organic Search

Social Media based Organic Search Optimization

Organic search can be a difficult battle, so you may as well enlist all the help you can get. Have you ever Google’d someone’s name, only to find a Facebook profile or a Twitter account as the top results? You can use the ranking power of social media platforms to bolster your organic search optimization campaign.

Facebook for Organic Search

If you’d like to kick off an organic search optimization campaign, a great way to start promoting yourself is Facebook. You can set up a Facebook group for your company, or even one of the new Facebook pages, and start adding people within your social circle. With a little luck and some good friends, your group can spread far beyond your initial audience. Try to brand your campaign with some sort of goal (10,000 Widget Lovers United) or viral aspect that may slightly increase your strategy’s infective-ness.

Twitter for Organic Search

A good thing to keep in mind when you use Twitter to bolster your presence in desired search rankings, is that everything you say is given it’s own page, which may be indexed. Sometimes a single tweet can be indexed and appear quite high for competitive phrases due to the juice the twitter.com domain has. You want to use keywords and locations (if possible) to drill down potential searchers to those you want to reach, and to ensure you rank better for these more specific niches. Talk about your subject all day, add those who do the same, and drop links to your various services and information pages.

Search Engine Optimization; Long Tail Keywords in Search

April 23rd, 2009 by Jordan Zazzara

Before Long Tail Keywords…

Search Engine Optimization had been my main focus, my keyword of choice. I have been trying to push it for a while, but the difficult of ranking for Search Engine Optimization was setting in. A few weeks ago at work I sat in on a webinar by Avinash Kaushik, and he stressed the importance of Long Tail Keywords and phrases, which are the road less taken when it comes to organic keyword based SEO.

Long Tail Keywords

A Long Tail Keyword/phrase is a keyword or phrase that may have less competition then your “trunk” or main keywords. For example, I tried to push “Search Engine Optimization” as a phrase, when “Free SEO Analysis” was easier to rank for, and has brought me more traffic then I would have gotten persuing the less effective strategy of ranking well for Search Engine Optimization.

Targeting Long Tail Keywords is a great method to adopt, especially if you have any satellite sites set up with keyword rich domains. I own a few, and they’ve been beginning to work out for me. At first they didn’t rank because of the new page effect in Google, but now on some long tail searches I can get first and second page results.

Although it’s an unlikely long tail search term in it’s-self, the phrase “web traffic seo” will cause my domain http://webtrafficseo.org to pop up as the first result. We’re talking a single page website as well. With a little building you could definitely rank for some more difficult long tail searches.

I’d just like to stress to anyone reading this who’s interested in SEO, sometimes penetrating the search listing for a super competitive keyword or phrase just isn’t going to happen in your position. There are plenty of reasons, your site could be too young, not enough content, whatever. What good domain phrases could you get to maximize your chances of fishing useful customers out of Google?

Mint Analytics: A great realtime SEO tool

Mint Analytics Review

Mint Analytics: No replacement for Google Analytics

Reviewer: Jordan ZazzaraApr 15, 2009

Like most web junkies and webmasters, I’m always looking for something new to try. I’m a staunch supporter of Google Analytics and most things Google, but GA lacks a few features that I really wanted: self hosting, plug-ins, and an API. Luckily, a Google search later I ran into Mint. A few minutes later I bought it.

Mint is a light-weight and pretty statistics/analytics program that you can host on your own server and modify. Like I mentioned above, it’s not free, but the $30.00 dollar charge covers a single domain forever. Most of the features in Mint are also in Google Analytics, but there are a few spots where Mint shines.

Being a self-hosted application, Mint doesn’t have the delay in statistics update that Google Analytics has. Get it? You can sit there and hit refresh, and get your analytics fix in real time! Maybe that excited me more then it should, but it’s still exciting. Admit it. You can see exactly how many people liked that text you used in that Twitter link you just posted.

What’s more, you can add code to it with plug-ins, which Mint oddly calls Peppers. There aren’t many peppers on the Mint site, but what is there is quite useful. Among the Peppers are an automatic PageRank checker which is one of those few things GA doesn’t have.

PageRank Chart

Mint is also much simpler to use and look at. Everything you need is in plain site or one AJAX tab away. Sometimes in the heat of SEO digging around in analytics to find that one stat can get quite frustrating.

All in all, I’d say you should buy it. At the end of the day you can use Google Analytics for grand totals and deep probing analytics, but you can sit on Mint all day refreshing to your hearts content, tracking the latest referrals from your social media. Enjoy!
